Release your genius
Who are you?
Our brains are uniquely wired. No two brains are alike. You know you're you, and there is no other you, even if you have an identical twin. They're not you.
Which means our brains can do things no one else's can do exactly the same way. There's a best use for that unique brain. It means at every moment, there's a best use for the alignment of our time, attention, and energy.
Who are you? How can you be the best you?
Metacognition, which is to say, watching our own brains at work. takes us into our deep mind, the place where you exist. Through metacognition, we can explore what uniquely catches our attention, misses our attention, raises our energy, depletes our energy. Over time we develop our best understanding of who we are.
From that deep awareness, we find the alignment of our time, attention, and energy for the things that are most deeply satisfying. Which means, something deeply self oriented like metacognition, opens to others, the experience of us at our most deeply centered best.
This awareness takes us to our genius. It's our distinctive originality. It's the essence of who we are.
We're not normal, standardized, disabled, or disordered. We have a distinctiveness that can be released into the world.
The world needs more genius. It doesn't need to be rare. All we need to do is engage deep awareness to identify our genius. Then we need to do the hard and sustained work of finding the best purpose for our unique brains, using them to activate our distinctive creativity in the world, and doing what only we can do.
For me, and this means today, as well as every day in my life so far, being who I am requires family, friends, my community, teachers, colleagues, and mentors.
Oh yeah, and hard work, discipline, and courage.
Which is why I need your you.
